Hamilton - Barrows

Lisa Barrows and Roger Hamilton were married on Sept. 24 at the Major's Inn in Gilbertsville.

The bride is the daughter of Penny Barrows and the late Charles Barrows of Oregon.

The groom is the only son of John and Mary Hamilton of East Meredith.

The wedding was officiated by Judge William Field.

The groom proposed on Valentine's Day at Rockefeller Center on the ice as "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones played in the background. More than 100 cheering skaters and onlookers yielded the ice for the surprise proposal.

Paying special tribute to the bride's late father, the groom, best man, man of honor and nephew each placed a white rose on the empty chair next to her mother. Before escorting her down the aisle the brides nephew collected five rings from her mother and three sisters and finally her own, each containing ashes of her father. Placing the rings in his breast pocket, her nephew then escorted her down the aisle.

Tom Markus served as best man, Craig Harris served as the man of honor, Cameron Harris and Elizabeth Hamilton served as the ring bearer and flower girl, respectively. After a personal talk by Judge Field, the bride and groom recited their own vows.

The bride wore a pale ivory strapless gown by Maggie Sottero, gathered on the left, at the waist and had a crystal and pearl encrusted bodice. She carried a bouquet of white and dark orange roses accented by Christmas berries and sprigs of eucalyptus.

The groom wore a Joseph and Feiss one- button cutaway tuxedo with a gray vest and silver tie.

An intimate dinner for the 100 guests was provided by Gance. Afterward the bride and groom were joined by friends and family, dancing the night away.

They will be honeymooning in Aruba and are at home in East Meredith.
