---- — Are you growing any of your own food this summer?

"No, I don't really have an area to do it. I would if I did. I grew tomatoes about 10 years ago."

_ John Hughes, salesperson, Norwich.

"Yep, I have a garden with okra, onions, carrots, beans, tomatoes, squash and cucumbers. I love the veggies; they are healthier and taste better than store bought."

_ Brenda Spencer, medical review examiner, Morris.

"No, I don't have good enough soil at my house, I have grown a few pumpkins but it's a lot of work."

_ Carolyn Stanton, cleaning, Binghamton.

"I just grow with my grandmother. I like the fact that it's organically grown and doesn't have any chemicals on it."

_ Jennifer Jacyna, student, Johnson City.

"I'm growing a few tomatoes and cucumbers. I've had better growing years, but just enjoy the fact that you did it and that it tastes fresher and better."

_ Gary Gibbon, retired, Norwich.

"Yes, vegetables. I like the fresh taste, I hate having to weed, but it's worth it."

_ Scott Fairchild, stay-at-home father, Columbus.
