Question of the week: Who do you think will win the NCAA basketball tournament this year, and why?
“Every team has a chance
this year.
There’s a lot of
Cinderella and
underdog teams.
North Carolina’s
got something
to prove since
the beginning
of the season.
They were No.
1, but a lot of people are doubting
them now, but they’ve got a
solid team, good coach, they’ve
got history and experience.”
— Preston Lemaster, retail,
Grand Gorge
“Even though
I’m not a big
basketball fan,
I would hope Siena
would win
it because it’s
more local to us.
Sienna would be
my pick.”
— Bill Eckardt,
retired,
Oneonta
``I’m going to go out on a limb
and place my
bets on Syracuse.
They really have
what it takes,
and I think this
year especially.
Johnny Flynn is
amazing. SU is
my team; they
just finished up
the Big East and put up a real
good fight. Even if they don’t
win the title this year, I think
they’ll at least take us far within
the tournament. Go ’Cuse!”
— Justin Murphy, landscaper,
Liverpool
“I don’t really
follow it, but
I’d have to say
B i n g h a m t o n .
I’m only saying
that because
my neighbor’s
child goes to
Binghamton.”
— Amy Galowitz,
volunteer Jefferson
“Louisville. They have great
defense. They
have a big guy
as a center, so
it’s hard to get in
close to the post.
They have solid
D (defense) all
around. I mostly
pay attention
to the Big East,
pretty much. I mean, Syracuse
is my team, but I just don’t see
them winning it.”
— Andrew Hadlock, wrestling
coach, Oxford
“I like contact sports and I
play rugby, so
I’m not really
into watching
basketball, but
I do have six
brothers who
do and they are
huge Duke fans.
Which is enough
reason to say
I’ll be rooting for anybody but
Duke to win!”
— Renee Hewitt, nurse, Delhi
