MILFORD — In the heaviest voting within memory, Milford elected the first woman mayor in its history Tuesday afternoon as Mrs. Henry L. (June) Hotaling defeated former Central School Principal Stanley Church 115-75.
In so doing, Milford may also have elected the first woman mayor ever to serve in Otsego County.
Mrs. Hotaling, a legal secretary with the Cooperstown law firm of Van Horne and Feuery, defeated Mr. Church by one vote, election officials recalled, in the village caucus a month ago to win her place on the Union Ticket.
