M-u-u-u-u-ush!!
That familiar cry of the Yukon will echo over Stamford this weekend, if the weatherman cooperates with the Stamford Chamber of Commerce.
Arctic Dog Sled Club of America races are scheduled over a course laid out in Stamford by Chamber representatives. Teams from all across the northeastern United States and portions of Canada will be entered.
Teams are scheduled to start Saturday and Sunday from Indian Trail Park, and will compete over a 10 mile course planned over the Stamford Golf Course to provide for a better spectator view.
This is the first time in this part of the state for such a race.
Last weekend about 12,000 spectators watched the dog sled races in Malone.
More than 10 teams are entered. They are the leading contenders for the season championship of the Arctic Dog Sled Club of America.
A program of skating and dancing will be held Saturday night in the Churchill gym. The program is sponsored by the Stamford Kiwanis Club and the Stamford Chamber of Commerce.
A contest is being held in area schools for the boy and girl selling the most tickets for the race.
The winners of the contest will be crowned king and queen of the carnival weekend.
