Lodge gives thanks for cleaning highway

Debris on Northside of I-88 between Interchanges 16 and 15 was cleared and bagged May 5 by members of Oneonta Lodge 466 Free and Accepted Masons, and seven students attending Hartwick College, who joined in clearing the debris.

Mark Alcott, Eric Bode, Eric Goodman, Cody Kenyon, Chuck Masters, Andrew Schwartz and Alex Torres of TEKE assisted Alexander Brannan, Fred Hickein, Douglas Macomber and Dominic Parlato in the 2½-mile hike.

The many plastic bags lying along the shoulder during the weekend were among the many items discarded by thoughtless passengers occupying vehicles on the highway.

We sometimes wish that those people had the opportunity to join us in cleaning the areas.

The Lodge members are very appreciative that these students help support the community in performing a civic activity.
