Children are the inspiration in Oneonta

This in response to Robin English's May 17 letter.

Ma'am, I want to thank you for sharing the positive efforts of two young children. That was a wonderful thing that they did, and it is unfortunate that some people feel the need to tear down such things.

I do not live in Oneonta anymore, but loved growing up there. It breaks my heart to come "home" and see how much Oneonta has changed.

What a refreshing sight those posters must have been! My hope is that more young people would follow the lead of those two girls, and make efforts to beautify the city of Oneonta.

In response to Mr. "joeknucklebomb," who posted a comment on the online version, sir, your grammar was atrocious, and the fact that you would find something negative to say about the efforts of people to bring a positive message to Oneonta points out exactly what is wrong with this society.

There are many 11-year-olds that baby-sit. The fact that they are trying to earn money in a positive way should be applauded.

Furthermore, telephone polls are used for a myriad of signs to be posted.

Do you complain every time that you see something hanging on a telephone poll? Maybe it was you that was so offended that you just had to take the signs down!

Ms. Robin, tell those girls to hang more signs, and get others to follow their lead! Tell them to bring back hope, care and positive attitudes to the city of Oneonta! I applaud their efforts! Thank you, Emily and Hunter, for your inspirational posters. Keep up the good that you are trying to do!

Let's bring the area together for the kids

Hold on to your hats, Valleyview, Riverside and Greater Plains! You've got some awesome kids and teachers coming your way, and they will knock your crazy socks off, dazzle you with their delight and become your best friend!

They are arriving this fall, and properly equipped with all the right ingredients for fun, friendship, laughter and learning. Just like you, they rock!

Let's bring this wonderful community of Oneonta together in the spirit of kindness and the wisdom of selflessness for our children to thrive, learn, grow and continue on their path of happiness.

Children's needs protected aren't

Why are children not considered?

With the president's recent endorsement and empathy with gay marriage comes the thought of the children.

When will there be endorsements to protect children who have to be left "holding the bag" with our new recognized lifestyles?

The children are still waiting for endorsements of laws that will protect them.

The Daily Star is to be complimented with their endorsement of gay marriage.
