Mable (Bliss) Whalen
COOPERSTOWN _ Mable (Bliss) Whalen, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at the Otsego Manor, Cooperstown.
She was born April 29, 1928, to Edna A. Eldred and Clyde J. Bliss and was raised in Hartwick.
She married Bruce Richards in 1949, and lived in Cooperstown, They divorced in 1974. She later married Larry Whalen, who predeceased her.
She worked at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown for 40 years in the Housekeeping Department.
She loved family, friends, animals, birds, music, going to church, going for rides, bingo and other activities. She collected angel and bird figurines.
When she was younger she loved taking lots of pictures.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Killmeier and her husband, Albert, and their children Roman and Heather of Cherry Valley, Debra Lints and Kenneth Knutsen of Howe Caves, and their children, Bruce Lints of Albany, Jesse Lints and family Jackie, Zoey, Austin and Jr. of Central Bridge, and Heather and Matt Knutsen; sisters, Beverly Lower of Cooperstown and Virginia Bauer of Vero Beach, Fla., brothers, Clyde Bliss and Barbara Calabrese of Otego, Keith Bliss and his wife, Flossie, of Burlington Flats; several nieces and nephews; and her family and friends at the Otsego Manor.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Funeral services will take place at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lyman Johnson officiating.
