Thomas 'Tom' L. Auriemma
MILFORD _ Thomas "Tom" L. Auriemma, 59, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 9, 2012.
The son of Ralph and Ann (Chiappini) Auriemma, Tom was born Feb. 26, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Westchester County. Following high school he married Julie Romeo, and following his retirement they moved to the Milford/Hartwick area in 1995.
Tom had a lifelong love of cars, particularly "muscle cars" and he worked for many years as the manager of a retail auto supply store in New Rochelle, where his knowledge and love of cars served him well. He loved travel and sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, NY Giants and NY Yankees. He imparted his love of sports to his children and younger generations by volunteering as a Pee Wee Football coach and as a youth soccer coach.
Although not a hunter or outdoorsman, he was an active member of the NRA, and a passionate scholar of the Constitution and the founding fathers.
Tom is survived by his wife, Julie; his two children, Nicole and Andrew Auriemma; his sister, Linda Saladaga; nephew, Kenny Saladaga; and by his two aunts, Louise Auriemma and Theresa Andreotti. He is also loved and will be missed by his nieces and nephews of the Haller, Obregon and Goldsmith families.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Roman Catholic Church in Cooperstown with Father John P. Rosson, pastor, officiating.
For those who so desire, the family suggests that contributions in Tom's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a charity Tom supported throughout his life.
Arrangements are under the supervision of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
