UNADILLA _ Ella Mabel Patrick, 86, of Unadilla, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 9, 2012, surrounded by her family, at the Ahner Home for Adults in Harpursville.

Ella was born on Dec. 4, 1925, in Margaretville, to William Coons and Ferol Ruff Coons.

Ella is survived by her five children, Nancy and Ronald Lane of Hephzibah, Ga., Alberta and Melvin Painther of Monroe, N.C., Virginia and Richard Rumenapp of Franklin, William and Barbara Carey of Unadilla, Verna and Mark Jones of Gilbertsville; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Ella was predeceased by her husbands, Burton W. Carey, Robert Harder Jr., and Joseph Patrick; her brother, Emery Coons; and her infant daughter, Joyce Carey.

Ella has lived in her mother's home, the Coons' homestead, on the back River Road between Unadilla and Sidney since 1935. She loved her home, her garden and enjoyed putting up her food in canning and preserves.

Ella worked at Bendix as an inspector and retired in 1987. She and her husband, Joe, enjoyed long Sunday afternoon car rides and enjoyed traveling during their retirement.

Ella was very proud of her children and the "pyramid" of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Ella was a member of the Circle Drive Alliance Church in Sidney and of late, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Unadilla. She was an inspiration to all with her faith. Ella will be remembered by her family and friends for her sense of humor and joy for life.

The family would like to thank Alice Ahner for her love, care, and kindheartedness as she took care of Ella for the last year and a half. Alice's gift of herself and her compassion will never be forgotten by our family.

The family will receive friends during calling hours at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Unadilla from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, with the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the memorial service in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ella Patrick to Lourdes Hospice at 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850 or the Unadilla Emergency Squad, Unadilla, NY 13849.
