BURLINGTON FLATS _ Marian M. Bowen, 99, of Burlington Flats, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Otsego Manor in Cooperstown.

Marian was born April 17, 1913, in the village of Garrattsville. She was the seventh child of the 11 children of Fred and Beulah Tuller Morris. Marian was the last surviving sibling.

Marian is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marian married Sherman Charles Bowen on Dec. 17, 1938. He predeceased her on Nov. 17, 1997. Together they engaged in numerous rural enterprises, including the operation of a large chicken farm, maple syrup production, vegetable farming, as well as others.

Marian with her husband enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, gardening, and bird watching. Marian loved all animals, but none more then her cat, Baxter and her cocker spaniel, Penny.

Committal services will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Burlington Flats Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, and condolences to the family may be left at the funeral home website www.hjtfuneralhome.com.
