MARYLAND _ Lillian R. Rundblad, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Bridgewater Nursing Home in Binghamton.
Lil was born May 24, 1931, in the Bronx, the daughter of Miles and Frances Rogers; she was one of 11 children.
She married Frederick Rundblad on June 18, 1948. He survives her; as well as her children, Gail, Jim, Steven, Donald, Bob, Frances and John.
Her son, Frederick Jr.; grandson, Brandon; and brothers, Benny and Howard, predeceased her.
Lil is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Red, Richie, Jerry and Joseph; her sisters, Patrica, Kathy, Betty and Mercedes; stepmother, Ann Rogers; several nieces and nephews.
Lil worked hard all her life, besides motherhood; at age 59, she got her driver’s license and worked as a cook at many local restaurants and as a caregiver for many years.
She was well-known as everyone’s Nana and loved by everyone she knew and met. She attracted all walks of life.
Lil’s favorite past time was bingo. If there was a bingo game somewhere, she was there with her extended bingo family, which she loved dearly.
Lil had an infectious zest for life. She enjoyed life to the fullest, sharing precious time with family. She was also active at the adult day care center in Oneonta, where she had many friends.
Lil will be greatly missed by whose life she touched, especially her daughter, Frances and Larry, Bert, Tara, Brooke, Billy and Alex, and all her faithful dogs, who gave her much comfort and joy.
Calling hours will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating.
