JEFFERSON _ Gertrude Eloise Weaver Burnett, 84, passed away on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford.

Gertie was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Jefferson, the only daughter of William and Eloise (Danforth) Weaver.

She married Ellis R. (Skip) Burnett on Oct. 2, 1948. Gertie was a homemaker and dairy farmer as well as a devoted wife, mom and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.

She was predeceased by her husband; her son, Ronald; and two brothers, Charles and Frank.

Gertie is survived by two brothers, Donald (Virginia) Weaver of South New Berlin and Walter (Ruth) Weaver of Sprakers; three daughters, Susan (Brian) Ethington of Cherry Valley, Sonia Burnett of Binghamton, and Amy (John) Gage of Harpersfield; one daughter-in-law, Janice Burnett of Niagara Falls; five grandchildren, Kerry (Edward) Rodriguez of Gansevoort, Matthew Ethington of Petersburg, Alaska, Emily Gage and Andrew Gage of Harpersfield, and Nicholas Gage of Stamford; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hearthstone and Robinson Terrace for their kind and compassionate care during her stay.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, May 31, 2012, at the Hall-Tari Funeral Home, 40 Main St., in Stamford.

The service to celebrate Gertie's life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the East Meredith Presbyterian Church, 357 Kelso Road in East Meredith. Committal will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson.

Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Activity Fund of Robinson Terrace, 28652 State Highway 23, Stamford, NY 12167 or the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 294, Davenport, NY 13750.
