OTEGO — Ruby Lee Oscarson, 82, of Otego, went to be with our Lord on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, with family by her side in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Randy Banta.

She was the daughter of Arthur and Pansy Lambert and was born on June 12, 1930, in Eckman, W.Va.

Ruby was best known as the owner of Center St. Tailor Shop which she expanded to Ruby’s Formals on Chestnut Street, Oneonta. She loved showing her gowns at bridal shows using local youth as models.

She raised a large family and loved gardening, bowling and collecting depression glassware. Her home was featured many times in The Daily Star for her beautiful floral yard and holiday décor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pansy Lambert; husband, Kenneth Oscarson, whom she had been married for 25 years; two sons, Michael and William Vengen.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Conner of Lenoir , N.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Vengen-Ottzen and George Ottzen of Otego, Victoria and Randy Banta of Unadilla and Jamie and Jeff Matuszczak of Eaton, daughters, Patricia Vengen of Oneonta, Terressa Vengen of Delhi, Kathryn Vengen and companion Edward of Patchogue; and her son, Daniel and Susan Vengen of Lubbock, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of Anthony Wahl of Milford, Rachelle Vickerson of Unadilla, Eric Levenson of Unadilla, Natasha Vengen of Santa Fe, N.M., Jacob and Rebecca Vengen of Lubbock, Texas, Kyle, Corinne and Alyssa Matuszczak. She was the great-grandmother of Gage and Damon Vickerson, Ryden Vengen; and also by her longtime friend, Anna Leveille of Otego.

Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home Inc., 123 Main St., Unadilla from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Otego.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, NY 13825.

The family wishes to thank the Otego Emergency Squad for all their help.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home Inc. of Unadilla.
