John J. Ahearn Jr.

 

John J. Ahearn Jr. “Jack,” 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at home with family by his side.
He was born April 30, 1929, in Troy, the son of John J. Ahearn, Sr. and Marjorie (Dingman) Ahearn.
He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed for Custom Electronics for more than 10 years.
Jack was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Society Church of Oneonta. He helped with the volunteer taxes through   the Office of the Aging. He was a life member of the NRA, an avid hunter and enjoyed playing bridge. He was an exceptional   husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dawn (Lecuyer) Ahearn; seven children, Maryann Stow of Oneonta, John M. Ahearn of   Vestal, Kathleen Ahearn of Florida, Richard Ahearn of Florida, Joseph Ahearn of California, Paul Ahearn of Otego, and Matthew   Ahearn of Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren; 3 sisters; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at the Unitarian Universalist Society Church, 12 Ford   Ave., Oneonta, with the Rev. Craig Schwalenberg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820   or to the Family Services, 277 Chestnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
