John William Cook

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho _ John William Cook, 64, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, formerly of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home.

John was born Earl William Cook on Feb. 19, 1948, to Earl and Iva Cook. He grew up and attended schools in Bainbridge, where he graduated from Bainbridge-Gilford High School in 1966. He then joined the U.S. Air Force, in which he served in the Vietnam War. After 20 years of dedicated service, he retired from the Air Force in 1987. Throughout his lifetime he made homes in New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Idaho. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, along with hunting, fishing, home improvements and tinkering on automobiles. He was known for his generosity and willingness to always lend a helping hand, along with his ability to lighten the mood with his jokes and storytelling.

John leaves behind his three daughters, Suzette Marie Cook (Luke) Thompson of Aviano, Italy, June Marie Cook of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Jennifer Marie Cook (Nathan) Snarr of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Roger (Annette) Cook; and sister Virginia (Bill) Nelson of New York; two grandsons, Paul and Silas Thompson, and two fur granddaughters, Dutchess Snarr and Milly Grace Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com. A memorial was held in Idaho Falls, Idaho, his place of residence.
