Janet Ann (Thomas) Leavitt
EAST GREENBUSH -- Janet Ann (Thomas) Leavitt, 62, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at her home following a brief illness.
She is the daughter of Earl Thomas and Antoinette Bourne and was born in Neptune, N.J.
Janet was a loving mother and wife and would do anything for her family. Growing up in Oneonta, she later moved to Albany and finally settled in East Greenbush with her husband, Robert Leavitt. She earned her associate's degree and became a medical secretary for Capital Orthopedics, where she enjoyed her work for more than 20 years until becoming ill. Her passions in life were taking care of and riding horses and tending to her three dogs, Jake, Cyanne and Ashley.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Robert B. Leavitt; two children, Christopher Purdy and Aniesa Purdy; daughter-in-law, Shelly Purdy; two sisters, Monica Anderson and Robin Stauble; brother, Bobby Sharp; stepfather, Robert Sharp; and was also the proud grandmother of Lala Purdy and Anndrea Purdy.
She was a one of a kind woman who seemed to always have a smile on her face. She touched so many peoples lives and the empty void of her being gone can never be filled. She will truly be missed.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the William J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., 165 Columbia Turnpike in Rensselaer. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
