Carl R. Jennings
NORWICH -- Carl R. Jennings, 80, of Norwich, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 6, 2012, at his home.
Carl was born on Dec. 21, 1931, in Holmesville, the son of Smith and Frances Terk Jennings. He grew up in the area where he attended school in New Berlin and Norwich.
Following his education, Carl gained employment with Victory Markets until he entered the United States Army where he served his country from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. Returning home, he regained his employment with Victory Markets, where he worked for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He married Marion Spencer, who survives, on Aug. 1, 1954, in Norwich.
In addition to his wife, Marion of Norwich; Carl is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Lou Wagner and husband, Clinton of Harpers Ferry, W. Va.; son, Terence Hugh Jennings and wife, Sherr-ee of Plymouth Reservoir; grandchildren, Dakota Lee Wagner, Eric Alexander Jennings and wife, Heather, Catherine Jennings and Scotty Cihocki. Also surviving is his great-granddaughter, Hailey Jennings; along with many nieces and nephews.
Carl was predeceased by his sister, Janet Eaves, and brothers, Edwin Hazard, Robert Jennings, Kenneth Hazard and Raymond Hazard.
A celebration of Carl's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. the Rev. Nancy Hale, Pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment with military rites will follow in the Fairview Cemetery of New Berlin.
