MARGARETVILLE — Stella A. (Balses) Dorsett, 93, resident of Margaretville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Margaretville Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1919, in Manhattan, the daughter of Stan and Tessie (Zuikis) Kazmak.
Stella married Thomas W. Dorsett on Nov. 3, 1946, at Yorkville, he died Sept. 10, 1999.
She was employed at Macy’s Department Store, also at Stern’s Brothers Department Store in NYC. Later Stella was assistant librarian for Lawyers Peat, Marwich & Mitchell in NYC retiring from their firm in 1980.
She enjoyed people coming to visit and having her daughters friends come to her home. She liked to cook, bake, crochet, read, take care of her flower garden and lawn ornaments.
Stella helped her husband doing paperwork for Postal Service Holy Name Society and was a Democratic Election Inspector for the town of Middletown.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Margaretville.
Stella is survived by two daughters, Arlene Dorsett Vining and Stella Corigliano; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept.14, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville, with the Rev. Paul Catena, as celebrant.
Calling hours will be held at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012.
Committal service will be in Andes Cemetery, Andes.
Donations in memory of Stella A. Dorsett may be made to the American Legion Post 216, Margaretville, Margaretville Fire Department or the Catskill Area Hospice.
