Patricia Ann (Kelsey) Thompson

“There was never a warmer heart.”

DELHI — Patricia Ann (Kelsey) Thompson of Rowlett, Texas, born Oct. 4, 1947, in Delhi, to Russell and Ruth E. Kelsey.

She was active in 4-H, athletics and horseback riding. Graduated from Delaware Academy, Delhi in 1966. Attended SUNY Plattsburgh, earning a Bachelor of Sciences in home economics in 1969.

She married Donald L. Thompson of Carrollton, Texas, June 27, 1970, in Delhi and settled in Dallas, Texas.

Patricia secured a teaching position within Dallas ISD in 1971, where she remained for 33 years retiring in 2004. She was a nominee for the National Teacher of the Year in 1986.

Patricia was diagnosed with ALS in 2009, and succumbed to the disease in her sleep Sept. 4, 2012.

She is survived by her mother; brother, David Kelsey of Delhi; husband, Donald; sons, Gus and Seth; five grandchildren; and nieces, Stacey, Alisha and Tasha.

Friends are invited to greet the

family at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012. A memorial service will also take place at the funeral home at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jeffrey Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
