CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Dorothy Benedict Comer passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Chattanooga following a brief illness.
Dorothy was born on Nov. 26, 1936, in West Meredith, the daughter of the late Harry and Verna Morrison Benedict.
Dorothy graduated from A.L. Kellogg Central School and the State University of New York at Delhi. In her early years, she was very active with the New York State Jersey Cattle Club and took many top honors at the Delaware County Fair, New York State Fair and International Exposition in Indianapolis.
She married Jerry C. Comer on Feb. 15, 1962, in London, England.
She lived in the Washington, D.C., area for more than 50 years and had a long career with the U.S. government, which included an assignment in London. She retired from the Department of Labor in 2007.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Marcos Pustilnik of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; and her beloved grandsons, Alexander and Harrison. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Kallan of Hartwick; brothers, Ralph (Sandy) Benedict of Raleigh, N.C., Lynn (Elaine) Benedict of Schoharie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her brother, Alton M. Benedict.
