Virginia Mattice DuVal

COOPERSTOWN -- Virginia Mattice DuVal, 95, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Otsego Manor nursing home, Cooperstown, following a brief stay.

Born Virginia Barbara Mattice on May 9, 1917, to George F. and Katrina B. (Schulz) Mattice, she grew up primarily in Buffalo and on Long Island, where she worked as a licensed practical nurse in the 1930's. Most of her adult years were spent in Valhalla, where she worked in the Valhalla High School cafeteria for 12 years in the 1960's and 1970's. She moved to Cooperstown in 1999. Virginia was a lifelong dog lover and owner of many dogs and a dog show enthusiast.

Virginia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Myron DuVal, brother, Philip Mattice and his wife, Rena and many cousins.

She is survived by two sons, Philip DuVal of Cooperstown and Brian DuVal of Valhalla; nieces, Susan Mattice (Rudolf Addink) of Loudonville and Nancy Mattice (David Pallas) of North Greenbush; one great-nephew, two great-nieces; and many cousins.

Services are private at the request of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
