Guy 'Ted' Theodore Post

ZIONVILLE, N.C. _ Mr. Lyman Roney, 91, of Zionville, N.C., passed away Wednesday morning at Life Care Center of Banner Elk where he had briefly been receiving rehab therapy.

Lyman was born on July 4, 1921, to the late Bryan and Cora Miller Roney of Middleburgh. He grew up and married Olga (Ollie) Zuk in his home town; he served in the Pacific Theatre and was a proud World War II Navy veteran.

He spent his life as a dedicated husband, father and educator. He gave 16 years service to the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District before becoming high school principal and serving as acting district principal for the Walton Central School District. He retired from the Walton District where he and Ollie remained until relocating to Crystal Lake, in summer and Englewood, Fla., in winter. Their last years were spent in their North Carolina home in Zionville.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue Buel and husband Ken of Sugar Grove, N.C., and Lori Roney of Boca Raton, Fla.; and one grandson, Jason Buel and wife Sally of Raleigh, N.C.

A memorial service for Mr. Lyman Roney will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Brown.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Theodore Post

NORWICH _ Guy “Ted” Theodore Post, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Wilson Hospital in Binghamton.

He was born in Gilbertsville, the son of Guy W. Post and Viola (Lamphere) Post. He married Doris A. Birdsall on Dec. 31, 1949, and was remarried to Ann E. Gallagher on April 19, 1986.

He received his teaching degree from the University of Michigan where he was a proud member of their band. He was a former Norwich High School band director in the 1950s. He was the owner and operator of NY Lab, his contracting business and retired from Proctor & Gamble.

He was a man of many talents. He was an avid genealogist, enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was a great storyteller. He was a carpenter and built many homes and barns in the area. He enjoyed listening and playing music. His front yard for years was decorated with self-invented, handmade, Halloween decorations.

He is survived by his children; Priscilla Wagner and husband Robert, John Post and wife Debra, Nancy Roy and husband Daniel, Jennifer Post, Dale Post and wife Dawn; his stepchildren, Kathleen Tiffany and husband Michael, Susan Symonds and fiance Jerry White, Thomas Grover and wife Bobbie, Michael Grover and wife Linda, Ann Funk and husband Jeff, and Edward Grover; brother, Donald, his wife, Patricia and their children; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ann; and his sister, Shirley Post.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville with the Rev. Mark Piedmonte, officiating. Committal services will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ted’s name may be sent to the American Lung Association of NY State Special Gifts Office, 3 Winners Circle, Suite 300, Albany, NY 12205.

STAMFORD _ Jean Hillson of Stamford, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at home.

Arrangements are pending with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
