Vincent Joseph Giglio
ONEONTA _ Vincent Joseph Giglio, 76, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, peacefully at home.
Vincent (Jim) was born on April 25, 1936, on Susquehanna Street in Oneonta, NY. He was the son of Joseph and Antoinette Giglio of Oneonta. He attended Oneonta City School District. In 1953, Jim joined the United States Air Force serving four years as an airplane mechanic.
Following his return to civilian life, he married Dorothy Staller living on Long Island. He is survived by their daughter, Marilyn Giglio Lord (Thomas) of Meriden, N.H.; five grandchildren, Reed, Justin, Jordan, Morgan and Alison; and two great-grandsons, Casey and Fletcher Walker. After his divorce, he married Shirley Walling and they had 44 very happy years together until her passing in 2003. He is survived by their son, David V. Giglio; granddaughter, Nicole Giglio (Tim Stilson); and great-grandchildren Kalee and Conner Stilson.
Jim is also survived by siblings, Mary Giglio Spettel (Lewis) of Oneonta, Rose Kludas of Florida, Theresa Giglio Richardson (James) of Virginia, and Nicholas Giglio of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim and his partner Sandra Currie had six wonderful years together dancing and traveling. The Turning Stone was also a great pastime.
Jim was employed by A.O. Fox Hospital, Munson's Oil Company and retired from Agway Petroleum as a driver and furnace technician. He was also noted for painting signs in and around the area
Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta, Knights of Columbus and the Tri-County Dance & Social Club. He is also a retired member of the United States Air Force.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at the funeral home, the Rev. Bernard Ampong, parochial vicar at St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
