Jane M. Scott

MORRIS _ Jane M. Scott of Cooperstown and formerly of Morris, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Bassett Hospital.

She was born in Morris, the daughter of William Stone Sr. and Evelyn (Foote) Stone. She married David Scott on May 15, 1977, in the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Morris.

She served her country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. She became a U.S. Postal employee and then Postmaster at Cole Camp, Mo. She was an active member of the American Legion Post No. 1135 of Morris. In her younger years she enjoyed sports and athletics. Jane was also an avid bingo player and also enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee with her grandchildren and friends.

Jane is survived by her children, Carole Hazard and her husband, Philip of Oneonta, Patrick and his wife, Donna of Colorado Springs, Colo., Robert of Romulus; her six grandchildren, David, Dylon, Alexandria, Bianca, Britnie and Jeremyah; her sisters, Deborah Convis (Dale), Lynne Kline (Ed), and Mary Gray; her brothers, William Stone Jr. (Barbara) and Michael Stone (Anna); and sisters-in-law, Mary Stone, Rosa Morgan, and Connie Stone; brother-in-law, John Weidman.

She was predeceased by her husband, David Scott.

There will be calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris and a memorial celebration will be held at Holy Cross Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.

Burial with full military honors for Jane and David H. Scott will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at the Hillington Cemetery in Morris.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the American Legion Post No. 1135, Morris, NY 13808, in her memory.
