FLY CREEK — William T. Talbot Sr., 85, a longtime resident of the Fly Creek area, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion.
The son of Taine and Harriet (Newman) Talbot, he was born March 26, 1927, in Ilion.
On June 16, 1946, he married Evelyn Yauger of Hartwick and together they resided and raised their family in the Fly Creek area. Evelyn predeceased Bill on Nov. 29, 2011.
During World War II, William enlisted, was trained as a pilot, and served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945. Following the war, William worked for many years at Remington Arms in Ilion, Sperry Rand and UNIVAC.
William was a religious person and was at his death faithfully looking forward to his resurrection by his God Jehovah.
He is survived by his daughters, Alberta Yerdon of Richfield Springs; Susan Velasco and Katherine Post, both of Little River, S.C., and Barbara Talbot of Fly Creek; as well as by his son, William Talbot Jr. of Rome. He is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
At William’s request his funeral and burial in the Fly Creek Cemetery will be private.
Arrangements are under the supervision of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
