SIDNEY CENTER _ Virginia L. VanValkenburg,79" of Sidney Center passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton. She was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Gilbertsville, the daughter of Merton and Marion (Olmstead) Lilley. She married the late June Van Valkenburg in October 1951.

Virginia was a homemaker in her own home and enjoyed people.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Van Valkenburg of Sidney Center, three brothers and their wives: Clyde (Barbara) Lilley of New Berlin, Keith (Barbara) Lilley of Gilbertsville and Wayne (Doni) Lilley of South New Berlin: two sisters, Jean Gilbert of Bainbridge and Sharon Lilley of Unadilla; a sister-in-law, Alice Beers of Buffalo; two grandchildren, Jerry Moore and David Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia was predeceased by her brothers, Bruce and Warren Lilley, and her sisters, Betty Haynes and Marilyn Endgard.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the Highland Cemetery, Sidney Center, with the Rev. Fred Albrecht officiating.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home Inc. of Unadilla.
