Jean Morgan Hillson

STAMFORD — Jean Marie (Morgan) Hillson, 78, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at her home in Stamford.

Born in Oneonta, she was the daughter of the late Stanley G. and Mary (Bradbury) Morgan. Jean was a dedicated wife, mother,   educator and a good friend to many.

Jean was a graduate of Oneonta Senior High School in 1951. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the State University   Teachers College, Oneonta in 1955. Jean’s teaching career in Home Economics spanned 30 years, from the mid 1950s to the late   1980s, including Stamford Central School, Jefferson Central School, and the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta,   where she also earned her Master’s of Science Degree in Education.

In 1954, Jean married David R. Hillson of Stamford, and they welcomed home their son, Eric, in September 1963.

Together, Jean and Dave enjoyed traveling, jazz music, visiting their grandchildren, playing bridge, but most of all, making   many wonderful memories with dear friends.

Jean is survived by her son, Dr. Eric Morgan Hillson, daughter-in-law, Heather, and grandchildren, Jessica Lynne Hillson,   Clayton Thomas Hillson and Tyler Bradbury Hillson, all of Gettysburg, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Morgan and Christina Hillson;   and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David R.; and brother, James W. Morgan.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, Stamford. Interment will follow   in the Stamford Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. A reception to celebrate   Jean’s life will be held immediately following the burial Tuesday at Stamford Golf Course.
