William H. Konchar
MILFORD _ William H. Konchar passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Otsego Manor. He was 95 years old and the widower of Edith Eileen Fisher, whom he married on July 3, 1948, in Milford. She predeceased him in November of 2004.
William "Bill" was born on Feb. 13, 1917, on Christian Hill in the Town of Hartwick. He was the son of August and Antonia (Ocakar) Konchar.
In December of 1941, he bought his farm on County Route 44 and they farmed there together for over 37 years. They moved to Route 28 just south of Milford in 1978, and he lived there until April 7, 2012.
Bill is survived by a brother, Joseph and his wife, Dorothy of Milford; son, Donald Blair and his wife, Sandra of Highland Mills; three grandsons, Robert Scott Blair and his wife, Donna of Highland Mills, James Lee Blair of Highland Mills, and Scott Lee Blair and his wife, Michelle of Monroe. He is also survived by three great-granddaughters, Devyn Lee Blair and Meagan Alexis Blair of Highland Mills, and Lina Rose Blair of Monroe; and by many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by six brothers, Frank, Stanley, August, Anthony, Albin and Edward; five sisters, Antonia, Pauline, Anna, Mary and Frances; and by a nephew, Steven Konchar.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home at 28 Pioneer St., Cooperstown with the Rev. John Young officiating. The family will be present at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service to receive friends. Burial in the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery will follow the service.
