Maria E. Armlin

ONEONTA — Maria E. Armlin, 47, of River Street, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Maria was born on Aug. 13, 1965, in Cobleskill, to Patricia A. (Yung) Rogers and Thomas D. Armlin.

She was most recently employed as a cashier at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. Maria enjoyed reading, cooking, ceramics, collecting Native American memorabilia. Maria was especially fond of spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother, David M. Armlin; and her uncle, Fred Yung.

Maria is survived by her daughters, Chelsea Simmons of Oneonta and Amanda Simmons of Schenectady; her son, Brandon (Debra Franzone) Armlin of Riverhead; grandchildren: Aurora Seidel of Schenectady and Jordan Scudder of Oneonta; mother, Patricia Yung (Dale) Rogers of Harpersfield; father, Thomas Armlin of Middleburgh; paternal grandmother, Mary Curran of Middleburgh; sisters. Janice (David) Merwin of Manorkill, Roberta (Clarence) Van Valkenburgh of Prattsville, Bobbi Jo (Larry) Johnson of Cairo; stepsisters, Karrin Harlow and Kimberley Estes of Cape Coral, Fla..; stepbrothers, Dale C. (Michelle) Rogers of Cape Coral, Fla., Michael (Elizabeth) Rogers of Woodbridge, Va.; aunts, Beatrice Grizbowski of Seaford, Catherine (Bernie) Stempel of Voorheesville, Joan Flitcroft and Dorothy Moon, both of Fultonham, Mary (Jim) Cahill of Middleburgh, Alice (Charlie) Stanton of Esperance; uncles, Anthony C. (Ruth) Yung of Livingstonville, John (Rose) Yung of Middleburgh; sister-in-law, Carrie La Forest, and special nephew, James Armlin, both of Berne; and many other aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.

Maria’s love and generous spirit will be remembered through her donation of her organs to others in need.

A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Cremation will follow at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in the Keyserkill Cemetery, Keyserkill Road, Middleburgh.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Aurora Seidel and Jordan Scudder Memorial College Trust fund, c/o National Bank of Delaware County, 1 Churchhill Ave., Stamford, NY 12167.
