MOUNT UPTON — John James Hartwell, “JJ” passed away Nov. 25, 2012. He was born the youngest son to Bernard “Beanie” and Lottie Hartwell of Mount Upton.
John was a graduate of Mount Upton Central School and attended Alfred State College, graduating with an associate’s degree in building construction. He was a longtime employee of Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney.
John is remembered for his love of everything outdoors. He spent his free time hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and harvesting nature’s bounty.
John is reunited in eternal peace with his father, Beanie Hartwell, mother, Lottie Donnelly, brother, Barry Hartwell and sister, Judy Diver-Riggall.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Shayne “Mike” and Sherrie Hartwell of West Schuyler; daughter, Eden Hartwell of Norwich; their mother, Michele Hartwell of Mount Upton; grandchildren, Lane, Mikayla and Dustyn Hartwell; brother, Shaun Hartwell of Mount Upton; sisters, Elayna “Lucy” Thomas of Chenango Forks, Betty Sarauw of Plymouth and Billi Jo Hartwell of Arizona; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich. Visitors are welcome to wear outdoor sporting attire to honor John’s passion.
