Roslyn Carol Shafer

OTEGO — Roslyn Carol Shafer, 58, died Jan. 18, 2013, of leukemia, in Rochester.

The second youngest child of Celia and Philip Shafer.

Roz received a degree in elementary education and worked as a trainer for IBM, before running a franchise that combined technology and early learning into educational programs for young children. In 2003, she sold her franchise and bought a house on the Susquehanna River in Otego, writing computer curriculum from home and working part-time at Home Depot.

She is survived by her brother, Tom Shafer of Middletown; and her sister, Irene Shafer of Fishkill.

A memorial will be held at Hesse Galleries at 350 Main St., in Otego, from 1 p.m. into the evening Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
