Isabelle A. G. Kent
EDMESTON _ Isabelle A. G. Kent, 85, of Edmeston, died Aug. 5, 2012, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.
She was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Tibbermore, Scotland, the daughter of William M. and Jesse (Bain) Brand. She married John W. Kent on June 11, 1949. He predeceased her on March 9, 1973.
Isabelle immigrated to the United States in 1948. She retired from New York Central Mutual Insurance Company, where she had been employed as a supervisor. Isabelle was well-known for her collection of tea cups and her short bread cookies.
She was a member of the Edmeston United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Edmeston Tea Circle.
Isabelle never lost her Scottish lilt accent and was just a delightful person to know. She loved her family, and in return was cherished by them.
Her children, Genevieve Kent-Waller (Wesley), Kathleen Nevil (Bill), and David Kent (Lynn); her grandchildren, John David Kent, Joseph Brand Kent, Gabrielle Atwell (Brian), and Branden Waller; her sister-in-law, Carol Brand; and nephews, William Brand (Christine) and Gordon Brand ( Karen), survive Isabelle.
Her brothers, Harry Brand and William Brand also predeceased Isabelle.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with Pastor Jay Henderson officiating.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7. 2012, at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at the New York State Veterans Home where Isabelle had resided for the past eight years.
Interment will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Isabelle's name to the Edmeston Emergency Squad, the Wyoming Conference Children's Home in Binghamton, or the Alzheimer's Association.
