MORRIS - Norma J. Van Benschoten, 73, of Morris, passed away October 1, 2012, at A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home in Oneonta, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born January 3, 1939, in Fly Creek Valley, the daughter of Ora and Nellie (Adsit) Goodspeed. She was married to Hugh Van Benschoten August 17, 1958 in Fly Creek. She was a member of Butternut Valley Grange #1533, state and national granges. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, her sisters, Florence Thayer, Nellie Trainor, and brother, Edward Goodspeed. She is survived by one sister, Vera Ainslie of Richfield Springs, three children, Karen Van Benschoten of Racine WI, Mark (Joy) Van Benschoten of Covington KY, Alan (Betty) Van Benschoten of Whitesboro TX, two grandsons, Steven and David Morgan, special friend, Richard Ballard, and many nieces and nephews. Per her wishes, Norma will be cremated. Graveside services will be held at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Center, Saturday, October 6, at 11:00 am.
