John (Jack) Henry Huff Jr.

GILBERTSVILLE _ John (Jack) Henry Huff Jr., 87, of Gilbertsville, went to Heaven on a beautiful Sunday morning, July 1, 2012. Jack was at home with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lillian Huff; his brother, Donald Huff; and sister, Ruth Beckwith.

Jack is survived by his Swiss Miss and wife of 48 years, Agnes (Aggie); his children, John and Sally Huff (grandchildren, Courtney, Alex and granddaughter-in-law, Randi), Paul and Nicole Huff (grandsons, Finbarr and Fritz), Lili and Larry Kohorst (grandchildren, Lucas, Olivia and Lennox). He is survived by his brother-in-law, Neil Beckwith, and the entire Beckwith (Connecticut) and Peck (Vermont) families.

Jack will forever be remembered for his honest smile, sincere friendship, portraying Santa Claus, firm handshake and a seemingly endless supply of free ice cream samples, whether for one of his many home delivery customers (friends) or a complete stranger on a warm summer day. He never saw a day of work that he didn't welcome and never lived a day that his family wasn't his first and only priority.

Jack was born and raised in New Haven, Conn. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee during World War II. After the service, he received his degree from Delhi College. He then worked for both Carrland Dairy and Cornell Dairy before starting Huff Ice Cream in Nineveh in 1952.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 113 Marion Ave., Gilbertsville, at noon July 14, 2012. A reception will follow from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Major's Inn, Route 51, Gilbertsville.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jack may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820 or the Gilbertsville Fire Department, P.O. Box 72, Gilbertsville, NY 13776.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.johnstonfh.com. Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
