Robert Michael Conway
FRANKLIN _ Robert Michael Conway, 58, a longtime New Jersey resident and most recently of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at his home.
He was born on March 8, 1954, in Hackensack, N.J., the son of Andrew J. and Lucie (Spitale) Conway. On Nov. 11, 2000, he married Deborah Magliacane at the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.
Robert lived most of his life in Hasbrouck Heights, where he attended school and went on to graduate cum laude from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1981, with a bachelor's of science degree.
For many years, he worked as an Underwriter for the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance Company in Newark, N.J. In 2002, Robert and Deb moved from Wood-Ridge, N.J., to their home in Franklin.
Always the joker, Robert really enjoyed making the people around him laugh. He loved working on Lionel Trains with his good friend, Lenny, fixing up and painting the trains. He was also quite an auto mechanic as he owned over 60 cars throughout his life that he would buy to fix up and sell.
One of Robert's greatest passions was being able to live in "Hooterville" Delaware County, as he liked to call it, because of the great beauty of the countryside.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Deborah Conway of Franklin; his mother, Lucie Conway of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.; and his sisters, Barbara Germann and her husband, Henry of Montclair, N.J., and Debra Gentile and her husband, Anthony of Wood-Ridge, N.J. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Cecelia Magliacane of Port Orange, Fla.; his brothers-in law, Frederick Magliacane and his wife, Brenda of Port Orange and Joseph Magliacane and his wife, Lia of Howell, N.J.; his nephew, TJ Gentile; and his nieces, Marissa Gentile, Lindsey Gill, Sydnee Gentile and Sofia Magliacane.
Robert was predeceased by his father, Andrew Conway; and his father-in-law, Ferdinand Magliacane.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, at which time the family will be receiving guests.
