Marguerite J. Lane
MARGARETVILLE _ Marguerite J. Lane, 80, a resident of Margaretville, died Monday Aug. 20, 2012, at the Albany Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Sidney Center, the daughter of Harrison and Emma (Bronson) Morris.
Marguerite married Arthur Lane on Oct. 11, 1947, at Arena. He died on Oct. 1, 2005.
She spent her life in the Margaretville area living in the Millbrook Valley, Arena and then in Margaretville. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Margaretville Hospital for 12 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the Big Indian Native American Culture Center. Marguerite was the author of a children's book named "Big Tails of Little Creatures." She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Ira Lawrence; two grandsons, Brian and his wife, Joan Lawrence, and Bruce Lawrence; a great-grandchild, Breana Ellen Lawrence; and a great-great-grandson, Dominic. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, June Lane and Dorothy Keller.
There will be no calling hours.
A Native American Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 28, 2012, at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville. A committal service will follow in the Margaretville Cemetery Annex.
Donations in memory of Marguerite Lane may be made to the Memorial Fund of Mountainside Residential Care Center, Route 28, Margaretville, NY 12455.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville.
