Rose Marie (Brainard) Riordan

GILBOA _ Rose Marie (Brainard) Riordan, age 73, passed quietly and unexpectedly from this life into eternal peace early morning last Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, joining her husband, Andrew, in the kingdom of Heaven.

She was a beloved mother and grandmother, known by her community as a dedicated member of the Hunter Mountain family for 34 years, who despite her age refused to retire out of love for her job and her many friends that she made there. She was a woman of quick wit, humor and of course, indiscriminate love.

She is survived by her two sons, AJ Riordan and daughter-in-law, Diane, and their son, Jay of Gilboa, and Tommy Riordan, and daughter-in-law, Tina Riordan, and their children, Totianna, Timothy and Tyler Riordan.

She was an animal lover from birth growing up on a farm started her love for animals.

She is also survived by her kitties, Tigger and Muffles, who were earlier last year rescued from the remains of her home following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Irene, pets whom she loved fiercely and protectively.

She died as she had lived, surrounded by loving family, looking towards a brighter future, no doubt with aspirations to return to work as quickly as possible.

The lives of her family members and friends will be forever changed by her presence in our lives, and consoled in these hard times knowing she watches down on us with love and pride, having been the center of a close family. She will be terribly missed, but of course never forgotten. She was an inspiration and an example of what the meaning of family is, and her legacy will live on even after death, as her family is brought even closer together by her passing.

Friends may call at the Hall-Tari Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford, from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, for all who wish to come and pay their respects to a woman whom we all loved and lost far too soon.

Online condolences may be left on the funeral home's website at www.halltarifh.com.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall-Tari Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.
