Carol Ann Stevenson
SEVERNA PARK, Md. _ Dr. Carol Ann Stevenson (Minnion), a loving mother and dedicated educator who devoted her career to young people, died on Feb. 1, 2012. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Severna Park, Md. Dr. Stevenson was 82.
Known as an excellent teacher and administrator, Carol Stevenson worked with students at the pre-school, elementary and college levels before advancing into administration. Dr. Stevenson's greatest contributions came as a skilled administrator, leader, and mentor, and one who challenged and inspired many teachers in developing to their fullest in the classroom.
A native of Malverne, Carol Stevenson graduated with a B.S. Degree in Education from the State University of New York at Oneonta (1950), an M.A. Degree in Teacher Education from Columbia University (1957), and earned her Ph.D. in Administration, Supervision, and Curriculum from the University of Maryland (1973). In the 1960s, work in the field of education allowed Dr. Stevenson and her family to enjoy world-wide travel including living in Indonesia and Uganda.
Carol Ann Stevenson was born in New York City. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Stan Soloway) and David (Maura); her grandchildren, Mollie, Anna, Patrick, Sonya and Margaret; brother, Thomas (Kathy); and several nieces and nephews.
