Thomas M. Fox
MILFORD _ Thomas M. Fox, 81, died Tuesday July 3, 2012.
Tom was born in Queens on Dec. 22, 1930, the only child of Thomas A. and Fredericka (Hagan) Fox.
He graduated from Seton Hall High School in Patchogue, in the Class of 1948, and thereafter from Husson College in Bangor, Maine, with a degree in business management and accounting.
Tom married Dorothy Giuliano in Patchogue on Jan. 20, 1958, and they shared 41 wonderful years together before her death in October of 1999. For much of his life, he was a self-employed accountant in Patchogue, Long Island. Following his move to the Milford area in 1977, he was employed as comptroller for James A. Hurtubise Enterprises. Later he was employed in a similar capacity for At Home Care, in Cooperstown and Oneonta.
Tom was devout and faithful to his Catholic faith throughout his life. As a youth he served both at the altar and in the choir at the family's church, St. Patrick's in Bay Shore on Long Island. Most recently he was a communicant at both St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church in Cooperstown, where he sang in the choir, and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta. Previously he was president of the Parish Council at Our Lady of the Snow in Blue Point.
He was a Past Grand Knight of Council 1879 Knights of Columbus in Cooperstown. Tom was also active in his secular community, having been a District Deputy of District 110 of Lions International and a member of the board of the Milford Central School District.
In his private time, he loved model trains, working on and around his home, gardening, history and reading, especially books, movies and material concerning the Revolutionary War. Last but by no means least he loved his family, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and took great pride in their individual accomplishments.
Thomas is survived by his three daughters, Patty Blackler and her husband, Gary, of Amityville, Ellen Copley and her husband, David, of Colchester, Vt., and Karen Fox of Loudonville; three sons, Michael Fox and his wife, Stacy, of Mooresville, N.C., Tim Fox of Herkimer, and Tom Fox of Loudonville. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: John Blackler, Grace Blackler, William Blackler, Alden Copley, Brendon Copley, Drew Fox, Noah Fox, Aidan Fox and Allison Fox.
He was recently predeceased by his companion of nine years, Margaret "Peggy" Douglas of Bay Shore on Long Island.
Graveside services for Tom will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Westville Cemetery in Westville, with the Rev. John P. Rosson, pastor of St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Roman Catholic Church in Cooperstown, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to "Friends of Bassett," 1 Atwell Road, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
Arrangements are under the supervision of Tillapaugh Funeral Service in Cooperstown.
