Steven Russell Bump

MILFORD, Conn. _ Steven Russell Bump Sr., age 69, longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband to Donna Verespey Bump, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Milford Hospital.

Born on Oct. 8, 1942, in Oneonta, he was the son of the late Sheldon and Louise Bump of Otego. Steve served with pride and honor in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964, serving time in Korea and honorably discharged. He was employed by Bendix in Sidney, as a machine operator and later by Bic Corporation in Milford, where he retired in 2008.

In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by a son, Steven Bump Jr. of Milford; daughter, Lisa Meschutt of Oneonta; a sister, Elizabeth Bettiol and her husband, Eugene, of Oneonta; and four cherished grandchildren, Alexander and Jonathan Meschutt and Emily and Meredith Bump. He was predeceased by brothers, Sheldon Bump Jr. and Robert Bump, and sisters, Phyllis Koepke and Judy Bump.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 3 p.m. with military honors at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, Conn. 06460.
