52 Hall of Famers expected for Induction Ceremony

Fifty-two baseball Hall of Famers are expected to attend the inductions of Roberto Alomar, Bert Blyleven and Pat Gillick on July 24 at the Clark Sports Center, the Cooperstown shrine announced in a media release Tuesday.

The Induction Ceremony, which is free, is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Alomar and Blyleven earned election by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Gillick was selected by the Expansion Era Committee.

Last year, 47 Hall of Famers watched the inductions of Andre Dawson, Whitey Herzog and Doug Harvey.

The returning Hall of Famers are as follows:

Henry Aaron, Luis Aparicio, Johnny Bench, Yogi Berra, Wade Boggs, George Brett, Lou Brock, Jim Bunning, Rod Carew, Orlando Cepeda, Andre Dawson, Bobby Doerr, Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, Carlton Fisk, Whitey Ford, Goose Gossage, Tony Gwynn, Doug Harvey, Rickey Henderson, Whitey Herzog, Reggie Jackson, Fergie Jenkins, Al Kaline, Ralph Kiner, Sandy Koufax, Tommy Lasorda, Juan Marichal, Bill Mazeroski, Willie Mays, Paul Molitor, Joe Morgan, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro, Jim Palmer, Tony Perez, Gaylord Perry, Jim Rice, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Ryne Sandberg, Mike Schmidt, Red Schoendienst, Tom Seaver, Ozzie Smith, Bruce Sutter, Don Sutton, Earl Weaver, Billy Williams, Dick Williams, Dave Winfield and Robin Yount.

The Hall of Famers also will gather July 23 at Doubleday Field to honor Ford C. Frick Award winner Dave Van Horne and J.G. Taylor Spink recipient Bill Conlin.

Until this year, the Frick winner (broadcasting) and the Spink winner (writing) were honored along with the Hall of Fame inductees at the Clark Sports Center.

This year, the Hall opted to split it into two days. The ceremony for Van Horne, Conlin and Buck O'Neil Lifetime Achievement Award winner Roland Hemond will start at 4:30 p.m. The July 23 ceremony is also a free event.
