Cooperstown junior Michael Boyle earned a fifth-place finish during the Section Three Division II Wrestling Tournament at Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena.
Competing at 113 pounds, Boyle won an 11-2 major decision over Copenhagen's Brenden Jacobs for Cooperstown's best finish at the one-day event.
The Redskins also received a sixth from junior Jacob Miller, who was edged in the fifth-place match at 138 pounds, 7-6, by Nate Dietz of Phoenix.
Cooperstown tied Morrisville-Eaton for 24th place in the 38-team tournament with 19 points.
Canastota won the team title with 174.5 points, followed by Phoenix (150), General Brown (99), South Jefferson (93) and Sandy Creek (89).
Pat Webster of Adirondack earned an automatic berth to the state tournament at 120 pounds with a 5-4 decision over Sherburne-Earlville's Spencer Franklin.
Webster will compete in the same weight class as Sidney senior Scott Stafford, who won the Section Four D-II title at 120 pounds Saturday at the Broome County Arena in Binghamton.
Stafford's 8-2 victory over Unatego freshman Austin Ryan marked the only sectional championship among area wrestlers this past weekend. The first Sidney sectional champion since 2002, Stafford also made states as a wild-card pick in 2009.
Wild-card berths for the Division II state tournament should be released Wednesday, Section Four Wrestling Chairman and former Walton coach Rick Armstrong said Saturday.
The Times-Union Center in Albany will host the Division I and Division II state tournaments Feb. 24-25.
