Indoor golf tourney this weekend

Colonial Ridge Golf Indoor Golf and Teaching Center in Laurens will host a simulator captain and crew event Saturday and Sunday.

Four-player teams will compete on a simulation of Pebble Beach Golf Links from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday or Sunday. Cost is $35 per player, which includes $15 for simulator fee and $20 for prize money. The event features a 100-percent payout.

Pitching camp continues Sunday

The 2012 Oneonta Pitching Camp for girls ages 8-18 will run consecutive Sundays, continuing this Sunday and ending March 4, at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club.

Session I is for advanced pitchers, Session II is for intermediate and Session III is for beginners. There are limited openings for Session I, which runs from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and costs $200. Pitchers must possess the basic fundamentals and mechanics of windmill pitching.

Sessions II and III are $85 each. Session II runs from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Session III runs from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Gun shows start Sunday

The Midstate Arms Collectors and Shooters Club will host gun shows on the following dates in 2012.

Feb. 12: The Sidney Gun Show, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Sidney Elk's Club ($2 admission).

March 4: The Oneonta Gun Show, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Oneonta Holiday Inn ($2 admission).

Aug. 12: The Unadilla Gun Show and Flea Market, , 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Unadilla Rod & Gun Club (free admission).

Nov. 4: The Oneonta Gun Show, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Oneonta Holiday Inn.

Sidney to host pro wrestling

The Hillcrest Roller Skating Rink in Sidney will host an East Coast Professional Wrestling event at 7 p.m. Feb. 18.

The card features a match between ECPW 607 Champion Lil Daddy C, from Sidney, and ECPW owner Gino Caruso. Other scheduled matches are The Dawg of War Rottmare vs. Gabriel Soul; AnarchY vs. Chad Evans; The Benchmark Bill Daly vs. Big Ben Cromwell; The Japanese Assassin and The Superstar Jesse Lee vs. Brooklyn Joey Sassano and Average Joe; Ricky The Model Martinez vs. Mr. Entertainment Junior White; and Draven, TheOneandONLY vs. Nate "The Renegade" Regals, with special referee Billy "K-9" Pierce.

A 20-man battle royal also is on the card.

Tickets cost $13 for front-row seats and $10 for general admission, or $15 the day of the show.

Spring soccer registration open

Registration for the Oneonta Youth Soccer Association's spring recreational soccer program is open.

Forms, which are available at Sport Tech, will be distributed at Oneonta's elementary schools.

The spring program is open to youths who attend an Oneonta school or live in the school district and are in Pre-K through third grade this academic year.

Soccer club accepting registrations

The Cooperstown Soccer Club is accepting registrations for its spring recreational season for children in grades K-6 through Feb. 28.

Registration is $30 for the first child and $25 for each child thereafter. Those who register online by Jan. 31 will receive a $5 discount. A late fee of $10 per player will be assessed to those who register after Feb. 28.

Teams from Cooperstown, Cherry Valley-Springfield and Edmeston compete in the league, which is looking to expand to include squads from neighboring towns.

The CSC also is looking for volunteers and team sponsors. Cost to sponsor a team is $100 and includes business name on the shirts of one team.

No ice skating at Neahwa

The City of Oneonta announced that ice conditions at Hodges Pond in Neahwa Park remain insufficient for public ice skating.

The City Parks Maintenance Staff checks the ice thickness regularly. The facility will be opened for free public ice skating if conditions permit.

SUNY Delhi sets pool hours

SUNY Delhi announced the following pool hours through March 12.

Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. lap; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8-9:30 p.m. open; Tuesday, 9-10 p.m. open; Friday, 7-9 p.m. open; Saturday-Sunday, 1-5 p.m. open.

Notes: Pool will be closed for mid-winter break after the Feb. 23 evening swim until March 5; Registration for spring swimming lessons will run from 9 a.m.-noon March 17.

State boys basketball tickets on sale

Tickets for the 35th annual New York State Public High School Athletic Association boys basketball tournaments are on sale.

The Glens Falls Civic Center will host the state tournaments for classes AA-D from March 16-18.

Flex tickets and a 4-for-$50 package are available until March 1. There is no limit on flex tickets, which cost $8 each and are good for any one session. The 4-for-$50 deal includes four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas, but only 250 packages are available.

Regular prices for tickets are $10 per session or $50 for all sessions. Tickets are available at the Civic Center Box Office, Price Chopper stores in New York, by phone at 855-GFCC-TIX, or online at www.GlensFallsCC.com.

Time Warner Cable will televise the boys and girls state championships for the second straight year.

The tournament schedule is as follows:

March 16: Class D semifinals, 10 and 11:45 a.m.; Class C semifinals, 1:30 and 5 p.m.; Class B semifinals, 6:45 and 8:30 p.m.

March 17: Class A semifinals, 9 and 10:45 a.m.; Class AA semifinals, 12:30 and 2:15 p.m.; Class D championship, 5:30 p.m.; Class C championship, 7:15 p.m.; Class B championship, 9 p.m.

March 18: Class A championship, 1 p.m.; Class AA championship, 2:45 p.m.

Class AA, A and B boys state champions will play winners from the New York City Public School Athletic League, the Association of Independent Schools and the Catholic High School Athletic Association in the Federation Tournament of Champions the following weekend at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Tickets on sale for state wrestling finals

Tickets are on sale for the 50th annual New York State Public High School Athletic Association wrestling championships, which run Feb. 24-25 at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Session 1 starts with a parade of champions at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 24, followed by preliminaries from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., quarterfinals from 2-4 p.m., and wrestlebacks from 4-8 p.m.

Session 2 opens with special awards at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 25, followed by semifinals and wrestlebacks from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., more wrestlebacks and consolation semifinals from 12:30-2 p.m., and consolation finals from 2-3:30 p.m.

Session 3 closes the tournament with championship matches starting at 6 p.m. Feb. 25.

Tickets cost $12 for one session, $33 for three sessions without premium seating and $38 for three sessions with premium seating.

I-88 Speedway announces events

I-88 Speedway in Afton will host a Dirt Race of Champions Tour event June 27 and the Wade Decker Memorial on July 24 during its 2012 racing season.

The Wade Decker Memorial will have a 50-lap modified feature paying $5,000 to win, $1,000 for fifth place, $500 for 10th and $300 to start. It also will run a street stock feature with $1,000 to win, $500 for second place, $300 for third and $75 to start the 30-lap feature.

Bonus money will be awarded for heat winners, laps and random draw for lapped cars running at the end of the race. The last car on the lead lap will receive an additional bonus.

Three-car teams will compete for bonuses for the best overall finishes as well. Teams can be made up of I-88 Speedway regulars or invaders. Both will receive bonuses.

The midweek schedule will close Aug. 28 with a Dirt RoC Tour for sportsmen.

Unadilla MX schedule set

The 2012 schedule for Unadilla MX in New Berlin includes the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Weekend, which will run Aug. 17-19 at the Unadilla Valley Sports Complex.

The season opens April 29 with a District 3 MX event featuring select quad classes. Another District 3 MX event will be part of a Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifier, which will run from May 19-20.

The track also will host its first MX Rewind, a weekend festival celebrating the roots of MX racing, from June 1-3. This event will feature vintage racing and opportunities to interact with past MX champions.

A June 17 District 3 MX event will be followed by the ATV MX National Weekend, which is set for July 13-15. The season will close with the Sept. 15-16 Grand National Cross Country.
