Cooperstown's boys scored 33 points in the second quarter and cruised to a 79-58 non-league boys basketball victory over visiting Sherburne-Earlville in a matchup of Center State Conference division winners Saturday.
"That's the most we've had in a quarter this year," said Cooperstown coach Dave Bertram, whose team has scored 106 and 99 points in a game this season. "The defense was fantastic. We used fullcourt pressure and did a good job of getting up on their guards. Everybody was on the right page at the right place and the right time. We were able to run it up and get some great shots."
The Redskins (15-1), winners of Division III with an 8-0 record, had four players score in double figures. Jeremiah Ford had 18 points, Jeff Flynn and Michael Rowley contributed 14 apiece and Michael Moakler had 11.
Cooperstown led, 14-8 after one quarter and started the second quarter on a 21-2 run.
Flynn had nine points and Rowley had eight in the second quarter, which ended with the Redskins ahead, 47-18.
Austin Jasper scored 13 points to lead Sherburne-Earlville (13-4) which had been undefeated in the CSC coming into the game and clinched the Division I title at the end of January.
Cooperstown is at Sauquoit Valley on Tuesday and then travels to Sherburne-Earlville on Friday.

Eighth-grader Tori Rockefeller hit five three-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points to lead unbeaten South Kortright to a non-league victory between Delaware League rivals.

"Their strength is every night somebody else steps up," said Davenport coach Ray Preston, whose team has lost twice to the Rams this season and could see them for a third time in the Delaware League final if his team beats visiting Hunter-Tannersville on Thursday in a game that will decide the Upper Division title. "We try to know where Ward and Craft are and then Rocky steps up and gets you for 21. The last time, Craft got me for 20."
Davenport (9-6) briefly took a lead in the second quarter, but the Rams rallied to take a 32-26 lead into halftime. SK extended its lead to 48-37 after three quarters then Rockefeller hit two threes and scored 10 points in the final quarter.
