Fourth-place finishes
by Oneonta State’s Lauren
Brunetto and Durell Cull on
Friday qualified them for
the finals in their respective
events in the NCAA
Division III Indoor Track
and Field Championships
at DePauw University.
Brunetto, a sophomore,
ran a personal-best 2 minutes,
14.39 seconds in the
800 meters to finish third in
her heat. She’ll run in the
final at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.
Cull, a junior, finished
second in his heat in the
55. He crossed in 6.40 seconds.
His final begins at
3:15 p.m. Saturday. Cull
will run in Lane 6.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Skidmore 14, Hartwick 6
Visiting Skidmore College
scored the final seven
goals of the first half en
route to a non-conference
women’s lacrosse win.
Hartwick (1-1) received
three goals from freshman
Erica Scicchitano, two
from junior Tiffanie Bishop
and one from sophomore
Brittany LaVaute.
Skidmore (1-0) was led by
Lindsay Stavola’s four goals.
She also had three assists.
Scicchitano scored to
cut Hartwick’s deficit to 4-
2 with 17 minutes, 27 seconds
left in the first half.
Skidmore’s ensuing
seven-goal run was aided
by LaVaute drawing two
yellow cards over a five minute
span that led to
her disqualification.
The Hawks played the
final 40 minutes down one
player.
Jen Kaye made six saves
and forced three turnovers
for Hartwick.
The Hawks travel to Oswego
State on Tuesday.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL ... Casey Manzanero had 18 points and 14 rebounds for host Unatego, which got a last-second steal from Kayla Talbot to secure a 33-32 non-league girls basketball victory over Windsor on Monday.

Cooperstown girls earn share of division title
HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP ... Not only will Cooperstown take a 15-3 record into the Section Three Class C-2 tournament next week, the Redskins also are getting healthier. The Redskins' girls basketball team defeated visiting Waterville, 63-29, and earned the co-championship in Division III of the Center State Conference on Friday. Cooperstown and Hamilton each finished with 9-1 league records.

YOUTH BASKETBALL _ 2012 ELKS HOOP SHOOT ... Tanner Russin of Oneonta is looking to hit Glens Falls with his best shot. Center Street Elementary third-grader Tanner made it three in a row Feb. 4, when he won the 8-9 boys age-group title during the 2012 Elks Hoop Shoot State Semifinals at Herkimer County Community College.
