O-State duo qualifies for finals

Fourth-place finishes by Oneonta State’s Lauren Brunetto and Durell Cull on Friday qualified them for the finals in their respective events in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at DePauw University.

Brunetto, a sophomore, ran a personal-best 2 minutes, 14.39 seconds in the 800 meters to finish third in her heat. She’ll run in the final at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

Cull, a junior, finished second in his heat in the 55. He crossed in 6.40 seconds. His final begins at 3:15 p.m. Saturday. Cull will run in Lane 6.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Skidmore 14, Hartwick 6 Visiting Skidmore College scored the final seven goals of the first half en route to a non-conference women’s lacrosse win.

Hartwick (1-1) received three goals from freshman Erica Scicchitano, two from junior Tiffanie Bishop and one from sophomore Brittany LaVaute.

Skidmore (1-0) was led by Lindsay Stavola’s four goals. She also had three assists. Scicchitano scored to cut Hartwick’s deficit to 4- 2 with 17 minutes, 27 seconds left in the first half.

Skidmore’s ensuing seven-goal run was aided by LaVaute drawing two yellow cards over a five minute span that led to her disqualification. The Hawks played the final 40 minutes down one player.

Jen Kaye made six saves and forced three turnovers for Hartwick.

The Hawks travel to Oswego State on Tuesday.
