Outlaws lose fourth straight; Hawkeyes still last in PGCBL

Tyler McIntyre's two-run homer in the eighth inning lifted the host Elmira Pioneers to an 8-6 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball victory over the Oneonta Outlaws on Sunday.

McIntyre's fourth homer of the season came off of losing pitcher Matt Schmitt, capping the scoring and sending the Outlaws (16-17) to their fourth straight loss.

Oneonta tied the score at 6 in the top of the eighth, when Sutton Whiting singled to lead off and went to third on a double by Orlando Rivera. Whiting scored on a groundout by Shane Crain and Rivera scored on Zander Wiel's groundout.

Zach Lucas homered to start Oneonta's two-run sixth. It was his second homer of the season.

Rivera had three hits, and Whiting, Zac Johnson and Lucas had two hits apiece for the Outlaws, who play host to Albany at 7 tonight.

Last-place Cooperstown (9-24) lost twice Sunday. The Hawkeyes fell, 18-13, to visiting Mohawk Valley in the completion of a suspended game and then lost, 8-3, in the regularly scheduled game. No other information was available.

The Hawkeyes travel to Watertown at 7 tonight.

Amsterdam 10, Oneonta 1

First-place Amsteram finished with 18 hits in beating host Oneonta on Saturday in the PGCBL.

David Sosebee allowed seven runs on 12 hits over four innings and took his first loss in five decisions this season. Chase Green had four hits, and Ed Charlton and Giuseppe Papaccio had three hits apiece for the Mohawks, who improved to 26-7.

Winning pitcher Matt Pirro allowed one run on five hits over six innings.

Cody Hough, Sutton Whiting and Zander Wiel had two hits apiece for the Outlaws, who received a triple and a run from Heath Holder in the sixth inning.

Elmira 13, Cooperstown 7

Quinn Pippin homered to right to give host Cooperstown a 6-5 lead in the fifth inning, but Elmira responded with three runs in the sixth and seven innings to win a PGCBL game on the road.

Pippin also had an RBI single during Cooperstown's two run first.

Zac Bellinger, who played on Elmira Heights teams that beat Sidney in Section Four Class C baseball finals in 2010 and 2011, went 3-for-6 with a double, home run and five RBIs to lead the Pioneers. Bellinger doubled and scored in the second inning, hit a three-run homer to center in the third and a two-run single in the seventh that gave Elmira an 11-6 lead.

Tyler Mautner had three hits to lead Cooperstown.
