O-State goes 1-2
Oneonta State junior Ben Mikac went 3-0 Sunday, but the Red Dragons lost two of their three matches in a quad meet at Williams College.
Mikac, a 133-pounder, beat Christopher Siracuse, 5-2, during O-State’s 36-9 loss to Wesleyan. He decisioned Dan Evangelakos, 5-3, in the Red Dragons’ 28-13 setback to the host school and Mikac won by forfeit in O-State’s 43-9 win over Western New England.
Junior Chad Obzud and freshman Shaun Gillen each won two matches.
The Red Dragons (7-11) will host Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday.
Hawks of the Week
Hartwick College named water polo player Sami Capparelli and women’s basketball player Maria Foglia its athletes of the week.
Capparelli earned the distinction for the second straight week. She scored a team-best 18 times on the west coast.
Capparelli scored five goals apiece in losses to seventh-ranked San Diego State and 17th-ranked Cal-State Northridge. She also had three goals in a 14-13 loss to Cal State East Bay and contributed two more in an 11-4 win over Santa Clara. She also had three goals in a 12-9 victory over Sonoma State.
Foglia, a junior, scored her 1,000th college point Saturday during a 60-52 win over Elmira College.
She reached the milestone 31.3 seconds before halftime. She finished with a game-high 24 points and also made her 100th three-pointer in the victory.
Foglia also had 15 points in a loss to Ithaca on Friday, and nine points and 11 rebounds in a setback against Utica on Tuesday.

Sophomore indoor track standout Quashanda Barnes was named SUNY Cobleskill’s athlete of the week.
Barnes won the 400-meter dash during the Ithaca Quadrangular Meet. She finished in 1 minute, 2.45 seconds. Barnes also cleared 4 feet, 9 ¼ inches to win the high jump.
Cobleskill will compete in the Tiger Invitational at RIT on Friday.
