STAFF REPORT
Five high school basketball games were among the area high school sports schedule that was wiped out by an ice storm Monday.
Two of those games involved Gilbertsville-Mount Upton. The Raiders’ boys were to host Edmeston in a Tri-Valley League game and G-MU’s girls were supposed to play Oxford in the consolation game of the Harpursville Tournament. G-MU athletic director Jim Johnson said those games have not yet been rescheduled.
One game will be made up today _ Davenport’s Delaware League girls basketball game against visiting Stamford. Wildcats coach Ray Preston is inching closer to New York state’s record for all-time victories in girls basketball.
Preston, in his 34th season, has coached Davenport to 612 wins, including an 8-2 record this season. The state record is held by former Red Hook coach John Kuhn, who retired in 2010 with 619 triumphs.
Another Delaware League girls game scheduled for Monday _ Gilboa at Downsville _ was moved to 2 p.m. Feb. 9.
Jefferson’s DL girls basketball game at Andes also was postponed. No new date was reported.
