Local woman wins OLL raffle
Kim Wooden of Oneonta won the 2011 Oneonta Little League raffle for a limousine ride to Yankee Stadium and four tickets for a game between the Boston Red Sox and New York next month.
Wooden's son Graham plays for the Oneonta C All-Star Team, which won the OLL 10U Tournament on Sunday before her ticket was drawn. Graham Wooden also plays for Community Bank during the regular OLL season.
OLL President Graig Eichler said via email that the raffle raised $5,500 for the league.
Reutter, Kroll win two-day bass event
Don Reutter and Phil Kroll won the Susquehanna Bass Association's Kirn's Body Shop Open, which ran July 9-10 on Cooperstown Lake.
The two placed first with a two-day limit weighing 24.24 pounds, edging Don Green and Amos Bates (24.16).
Don Hoag and Bob Gray placed third at 22.67 pounds, followed by Mike Barse and Vic VanSteenburg at 20.88.
Larry Mattice caught the lunker of the tournament July 10, a largemouth weighing 4.34 pounds. Hoag caught the big smallmouth (3.70 pounds).
The SBA will host the Wiggins Tree Service Open from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday on Cross Lake. The Gruver, Zweifel, Scott Open will follow Aug. 7 on Goodyear Lake.

Rookie wins ATV event at UVSC
Joel Hetrick swept both motos during Saturday's AMA ATV Motocross National Championship Series at the Unadilla Valley Sports Center, giving the rookie his first career overall victory.
Josh Upperman of Baldwin Motorsports JB Racing Honda placed second to Makson Construction JB Racing's Hetrick to pull within three of overall points leader John Natalie, who finished third during the ninth round of the 11-stop series. Motoworks Can-Am's Natalie leads the series at 345 points. Hetrick is seventh, at 246.
Although he is still recovering from a mid-season injury, Natalie earned the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award with a time of 1 minute, 43.668 seconds.
Wisconsin's Nick DeNoble won the SSiDecals.com Holeshot Award in the first moto and Hetrick took the second.
Upperman finished second in the opening moto and third in the second for second overall. Natalie placed fourth, followed by Jeremy Lawson. Richard Pelchat rounded out the top five.
Oneonta resident hits first ace
Eli England of Oneonta hit his first hole-in-one on July 10 at Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens.
England used an 8-iron to ace the par-3, 146-yard third hole. Janet England witnessed the shot.
Meet the Outlaws on Wednesday
The second annual Meet the Outlaws Youth Baseball Clinic will run from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday at Damaschke Field in Oneonta.
Children ages 5-12 are welcome to attend and learn baseball skills from uniformed Oneonta Outlaws players and coaches. Children should come dressed to play with a hat, mitt and sneakers or rubber/plastic cleats. Children also may bring items for autographs.
Bats, balls and all other equipment will be provided by the Oneonta City Recreation Department and the Outlaws.

Scouts clay target event Saturday
The annual Shoot for Scouts Clay Target Tournament is set for Saturday at the Crumhorn Rod and Gun Club on Crumhorn Mountain Lake Road in Maryland.
The event, which benefits the programs of the Otschodela Council Boy Scouts, will feature target and hunter clay target challenges, food from Brooks House of Bar-B-Q's, prizes and more.

Colonial Ridge to host golf events
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the Hartwick/Mt. Vision Methodist Church captain-and-crew tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Cost is $40 per person and includes green fees, cart fees and prize money. The tournament is open to the public and has a 100-percent cash payout.
Colonial Ridge Golf also will host the Gilberstville Presbyterian Church captain-and-crew at 8 a.m. July 30.

Golf event Sunday in Oxford
The Blue Stone Golf Course in Oxford will host the first "6 On The Square Golf Outing" at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Cost to enter the captain-and-crew event is $300 per foursome and includes greens fees and cart. Individuals may enter at $75 apiece.
Proceeds will benefit 6OTS' volunteer-based 501(c) 3 service, which offers cultural and educational programs in the community.

City Parks Tennis Tournament set
The City of Oneonta Recreation Department is accepting registration for the City Parks Tennis Tournament, a United States Tennis Association-sanctioned event that runs from Aug. 12-14.
Participants must be current members of the USTA to play in the tournament, which is single-elimination and includes men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
Registration fee is $10 per player and covers entry into multiple divisions. Entry fee is due at the time of registration via check or money order payable to the City of Oneonta.
Entry forms are available at the website www.oneonta.ny.us/recreation and at the Recreation Office in Neahwa Park. Registrations must be received by the Recreation Office by 5 p.m. Aug. 5.

Rotary golf tournament Aug. 28
The second annual Cooperstown Rotary Foundation Golf Tournament will start at 3 p.m. Aug. 28 at the nine-hole Otsego Golf Course.
Entry fee is $45 per person for the best-ball tournament and includes greens fees, cart, food and beverages at the awards ceremony and reception following play.
The tournament also features a putting contest on the practice green next to the clubhouse.
Cash and gift certificates will be awarded for first, second and third places, as well as the closest-to-the-pin winner on the ninth hole. The team with the highest score will receive a consolation prize.
Foursomes are encouraged to enter, but individuals and couples are welcome as well.
Hole, beverage cart and reception sponsorships are available at $100 each.
Proceeds benefit the Cooperstown Rotary Foundation, which provides funds and resources for community support.

Colonial Ridge tourney Aug. 31
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the Otsego County and Delaware County Retired Teachers Associations' NOT Going Back-to-School golf tournament at 8 a.m. Aug. 31.
All retired educators and guests are invited to play in the captain-and-crew event, which features 18 holes, a golf cart and lunch. Those who do not golf are invited to lunch at 1 p.m.
Cost is $35 for golf and lunch, or $14 for lunch.
